DOCTORAL SCHOOL – FIELD OF MEDICINE

Doctoral studies represent the highest cycle of university education, the purpose of which is the advancement of knowledge through original scientific research.

The Faculty of Medicine organizes and conducts scientific doctoral studies, and doctoral students may obtain the title of Doctor in Medical Sciences in the field of Medicine.

Scientific doctoral studies are based on advanced scientific creation and research, contributing to the development of knowledge, competencies, and cognitive abilities. The general and specialized knowledge, competencies, and skills acquired through doctoral university studies provide graduates with the ability:

  • to systematically and comprehensively understand the field of study and to use the research methods associated with that field;
  • to design and implement a research project and to manage research activities in compliance with professional ethics;
  • to contribute to the advancement of knowledge through original research with national or international impact, demonstrated through scientific publications;
  • to critically analyze, evaluate, and synthesize new and complex ideas;
  • to communicate with the professional community and civil society within the context of their field of research;
  • to contribute to the promotion of technological, social, and cultural development within a knowledge-based society and economy.

The mission of the doctoral university study field of Medicine is to train researchers and highly qualified specialists capable of generating original, relevant, and applicable scientific knowledge in the field of fundamental, clinical, and translational medical sciences. The doctoral program aims to consolidate an academic culture based on excellence, methodological rigor, scientific integrity, and social responsibility.

The strategic objectives of the field include:

  • developing advanced competencies for independent scientific research;
  • developing the capacity for critical analysis and interdisciplinary integration of data;
  • stimulating innovation in diagnosis, therapy, and prevention;
  • promoting ethics and integrity in research;
  • integrating doctoral students into national and international research networks;
  • increasing the international visibility of scientific results.

The doctoral program directly contributes to the development of highly qualified human capital necessary for the medical, academic, and research systems in Romania and within the European area of education and research.
