RESEARCH WITHIN THE DOCTORAL SCHOOL OF LAW

Within the Doctoral School – field of Law (DSL), the Scientific Research Strategy is grounded in the specific nature of fundamental and applied legal research, taking into account the need to consolidate academic excellence, enhance the social relevance of research, and ensure continuous alignment with the dynamics of national and international legislation and case law.

Research-development-innovation activities within the DSL are intended to contribute to:

  • Increasing the performance and visibility of the doctoral school in the field of legal sciences at regional, national, and international levels;
  • Generating resources through the attraction of grants, projects, and institutional partnerships;
  • Strengthening its position in legal research and in the scientific substantiation of legislative and jurisdictional processes.

In this regard, the DSL aims to pursue the following:

  • Active participation in the development of an efficient system for managing legal research and disseminating its results;
  • Creating a transparent academic framework based on performance and excellence criteria, designed to stimulate the involvement of doctoral supervisors and doctoral students in scientific research activities;
  • Capitalizing on the scientific expertise of academic staff and integrating their professional experience (judges, lawyers, legal advisers, etc.) into research activities;
  • Providing scientific expertise to public authorities, the business sector, and non-governmental organizations in order to address complex legal issues through applied research.

Strategic Objectives and Courses of Action

Supporting Advanced Legal Research and Promoting Areas of Excellence

At the operational level, this objective is implemented through the following directions:

  • Establishing support teams for the preparation and publication of articles in specialized journals indexed in international databases, as well as for the development of legal research projects funded at national and international levels;
  • Identifying and developing new research directions in areas such as European law, international law, digital law, data protection, environmental law, business law, and fundamental rights;
  • Participation in prestigious national and international scientific conferences, publication in highly visible journals, and editing volumes with recognized publishing houses;
  • Periodic organization of the International Conference of the Doctoral School in the field of Law, as well as workshops and round tables dedicated to current legislative and jurisprudential topics;
  • Developing partnerships with specialized journals in Romania and abroad in order to increase the visibility of scientific output;
  • Creating the necessary framework to enhance the prestige of faculty publications and to facilitate their inclusion in relevant international databases.

Developing High-Quality Human Resources in Legal Research

To achieve this strategic objective, the following initiatives are promoted:

  • Integrating doctoral students into the faculty’s research teams and centers, as well as involving them in scientific projects;
  • Supporting academic mobility programs and research internships at universities and research institutes in Romania and abroad;
  • Organizing summer schools, methodological seminars, and workshops on scientific writing and research ethics;
  • Involving distinguished specialists from the academic and professional environment (national and international) in lectures, courses, and joint research activities.

Increasing the Volume of Funds Attracted for Legal Research

The implementation of this objective is achieved through:

  • Supporting the preparation and submission of projects in national and international competitions;
  • Encouraging interdisciplinary research through collaboration with other fields (economics, public administration, political science, information technology, etc.), particularly in areas such as business law, technology law, and digital governance;
  • Developing partnerships with other universities, research institutes, public authorities, and economic entities for the implementation of joint projects;
  • Concluding research and applied legal expertise contracts.

Developing an Efficient Legal Research Management System

Achieving this objective involves the implementation of the following measures:

  • Establishing a team of academic staff involved in coordinating and monitoring research activities within the DSL;
  • Developing clear procedures for evaluating scientific performance and reporting research results;
  • Involving DSL representatives in university structures dedicated to scientific research;
  • Supporting the development of research and legal expertise centers in specialized areas (constitutional law, criminal law, civil law, commercial law, etc.);
  • Optimizing the management of funds obtained through grants and research contracts in order to ensure transparency and efficiency in their use.
