Artificial Intelligence (AI) is driving significant transformations across fields such as business, health, finance, cybersecurity, robotics, and education. To meet the growing demand for AI specialists, the Faculty of Informatics at Titu Maiorescu University (TMU) is launching a new bachelor’s degree programme, taught entirely in English: Artificial Intelligence.[1]

Duration of studies: 3 years

180 ECTS credits

Form of education:

Full-time

Language of instruction: English

Who is this programme for?

The programme is aimed at high school graduates (holding a baccalaureate diploma) from Romania, other European Union member states, or non-EU countries, who are seeking internationally recognized training and a career in the field of artificial intelligence. Moreover, it is designed for students who show interest and passion for AI technologies and aim to develop smart and innovative solutions, rather than just use them.

Curriculum Structure

  • 1st Year: Core Subjects: Python, C, Data Structures, Algorithms, Applied Mathematics, Data Science and AI, Computer Systems Architecture, Operating Systems, as well as other applied subjects.
  • 2nd Year: In-depth Subjects:  Machine Learning, Object-Oriented Programming (Java, C++), Context and Prompt Engineering, Generative AI, Databases and Big Data, Ethics and Social Responsibility in AI.
  • 3rd Year: Specialization Subjects: Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing (NLP), Cloud Computing, Cybersecurity in Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Computing, Robotics, alongside AI applications for business, technology, health, and life sciences.

Research Infrastructure and Resources

The theoretical training is complemented by hands-on activities carried out on a hybrid infrastructure (AWS, Databricks and an On-Premises Data Center). These take place within the AI#connect laboratories (TMU’s Academic Center for Artificial Intelligence) using IBM Watsonx technologies, within the Databricks Data Intelligence Hybrid Research Center, and on the Ipsotek VISuite AI platform, which is dedicated to Computer Vision applications.

Students also have access to a dedicated Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Laboratory, equipped with a KINOVA Gen3 Ultralight 7DOF robotic arm, programmable humanoid robots, CreatBot PEEK-300 3D printer, NAUTILUS & UNICORN professional equipment for the acquisition of neurophysiological signals, as well as ClassVR and Meta Quest virtual reality headsets.

The aforementioned infrastructures were developed through  the UpDigitalUTM project, financed through the NRRP with over 2.6 million euros, respectively through the AI#connect project, financed through the PEO with 1 million euros.

Career Prospects

Graduates of the program will be able to pursue careers in developing fields, such as: Artificial Intelligence Engineer (AI Engineer), Machine Learning Engineer, Data Scientist, Computer Vision Engineer, NLP Specialist, Software Developer for Intelligent Systems or Consultant in Artificial Intelligence solutions.

This programme aims to contribute to the training of a new generation of professionals who will define the future of Artificial Intelligence.
